#131: Reginald Edmund and Jessica Huang

Reginald Edmund and Jessica Huang drop in to discuss The Unit Collective and Minneapolis Madness, playing monthly at the Playwrights Center.

The Unit Collective is a group of playwrights of color, endeavoring to support one another in the creation of new work. Their May 18th show centers on the theme “loss of innocence.” They’ll also be having a fundraiser to promote their fringe show upcoming on June 7th, so be on the lookout for an official announcement soon.

00:00-07:14: Reginald and Jessica talk about their histories at artists and how they became interested in playwrighting.

07:14-08:39: I ask after the Houston theatre scene and Reginald explains the differences between it and the Twin Cities.

08:39-10:09: We talk about the members that make up the Unit Collective and why they began working together.

10:09-16:12: We move on to the monthly themes chosen by the Unit Collective for each month’s Minneapolis Madness

16:12-19:25: The Unit Collective’s upcoming fringe show and how they plan to have all the playwrights involved in a 60 minute time period.

19:25-21:25: The Unit Collective, post fringe!
