#135: David Beukema, Carin Bratlie, and Wade Vaughn

David Beukema, Carin Bratlie, and Wade Vaughn stop by to discuss Theatre Pro Rata‘s production of Traveling Light, centered on the historical personages Brian Epstein and Joe Orton.

I’m particularly excited to see the show as while both Brian and Joe can be considered tortured, they handled their demons and sexuality in remarkably different ways, as David and Wade discuss.

00:00-03:46: Carin details the decision behind how Traveling Light appeared on Theatre Pro Rata’s season.

03:46-13:20: David and Wade talk about their characters–Brian Epstein and Joe Orton–their history and inner demons, whether they’d ever met, and the circumstances surrounding their deaths.

13:20-15:23: The benefits and consequences of playing characters based on real life personalities.

15:23-19:45: We discuss the choice behind staging at Layman’s Cemetery before we close out the podcast.

Traveling Light will be performed at Layman’s Cemetary from July 9th-28th. Check out Theatre Pro Rata for more information.
