I last spoke with Barbe in the fall of 2008 when I first began podcasting. I cut my teeth interviewing behind the scenes at Sample Night Live, which Barbe produces, and met many artists there for the first time. I’m more selective now of who I talk to–moreso because my life has changed drastically since I was freshly back from abroad and trying to find a job and friends.

But I knew Barbe before even then, back when I was attending college at Hamline University and she directed me in a production of The Duchess of Malfi, and visiting with her now comes at a juncture in my life where I’m looking back and re-evaluating the decisions of the last few years and how to make life better for myself and those around me. Part of that consideration is the podcast itself–who’s listening, what benefit does it serve, and should it continue? When is it time to shift gears and do something new?
