July 23, 2010
By Joshua Humphrey

Trekking up from Northfield to fringecast, Alex Higgin-Houser, Dave Kornfeld, and Laura Stratford espouse on music, coffee, and fringe.

00:00-07:38: Alex starts off the fringecast by detailing the formation of Uncommon Time Theatre Co., the development of Liberal Arts: The Musical, and the conception and development of Grind.

07:38-11:18: We talk about the influences of Grind‘s sound–gospel and jazz–and other instruments and sound used onstage. Additionally, we talk more about the breakdown of actor/musician/audience.

11:18-14:58: We talk about about the groups entry into the Midwest Fringe Circuit and all the places it will be taking them this summer.

14:58-19:40: We discuss the standout songs of the show before talking about another element, the shadow puppetry.

19:40-21:24: I ask Alex about working with multiple venues and conforming the show to the four different spaces they’ll be using during the Midwest Fringe Circuit Tours.

Grind: The Coffee Shop and Comic Book Musical runs August 7th, 8th, 10th, 13th, and 14th at the Rarig Center Xperimental Space.
